Genome Sequencing in the Clinic: Promises and Pitfalls

  • Wednesday, April 06, 2016
  • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Fleet Science Center, 1875 El Prado, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA

Speaker: Jennifer Friedman, M.D., Clinical Professor of Neurosciences and Pediatrics at UC San Diego

Brief Description: Advances in genome sequencing hold tremendous promise for providing answers, tailored therapies and, in some cases, cures for undiagnosed patients. However, how to interpret and act upon volumes of complex genomic data remains a challenge for sequencing providers, physicians, patients, and families. Jennifer Friedman, M.D., Clinical Professor of Neurosciences and Pediatrics at UC San Diego, will share case-based examples to demonstrate the promises and pitfalls encountered in application of genomic sequencing to the diagnoses of patients with rare diseases.

The event is free to attend and free parking is also available behind the Fleet Science Center near the Community Entrance forum.
